I’d like to welcome my fellow pumpkin patch AND apple orchard warriors to gameday and Saturday Screencaps. It’s doubleheader day. It’s also a doubleheader sports day with rec soccer and a cross country invitational AT A FARM WHERE THEY’LL HAVE PUMPKINS!
This is a chess, not checkers type of weekend. Plus, Ohio State is playing Illinois. I can sacrifice this Saturday.
Speaking of football, let’s stay in Ohio where this took place last night. Look at the clock and watch No. 44 as Elyria Catholic is in victory formation. Was that a cheap shot? You make the call. That sure looks like a cheap shot, but I’m not a football expert.
In college football, the question needs to be asked? Is Indiana good? If it wasn’t for this face mask, we might have had a different outcome last night in Bloomington. Again, I’ll let you guys tell me. They have really good receivers and plenty of depth at running back, but is Hoover a championship QB? We’ll have to wait until mid-October to find out. IU gets Rutgers next.

Rate the new John Madden movie
– Tom B. in Alexandria, VA isn’t impressed: I am not a fan of the new movie. I watched the trailer and it offended both my senses and sensibilities. I agree the voice is not good, but also the mannerisms. Bale cast as Al Davis is also a head scratcher. Couldn’t they find about a jillion New York actors who could fill that role? I think they just cast name-brand actors, threw them out there and hoped for the best.

Kate Upton retires as MLB wife
What a run it was for Kate. Stop and think about how her and Justin Verlander ended up a couple. In 2012, Verlander was coming off a Cy Young & MVP season. Upton was on the verge of being on the cover of the 2012 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition.

And then the worlds collide at the filming of a Major League Baseball 2K12 video game and the rest is history. The Michigan native, Upton, ends up dating Verlander, getting married and having two children. She then becomes the prototypical baseball wife as Verlander goes on to win two Cy Young awards with Houston and ultimately his 21-year career ends in Detroit with his wife and two children looking on after a career in which he earned nearly a half-BILLION dollars just in salary.
Verlander ends his career with two World Series titles, 10 all-star game trips, three Cy Youngs, 266 wins and a trip to Cooperstown in his future.

Can he lower his personal best time of 11:32:00 today in Napoleon, OH at a farm course that is known to be fast? Right now, he’s sitting with the 65th fastest time in Ohio. Can he break the top 50?
