Teenager dies at Kendal Calling festival in Cumbria

A teenage girl died at the Kendal Calling festival in the early hours of the morning, police have said.

The 17-year-old suffered a medical episode at about 02:15 BST and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Cumbria Police.

The force said it was looking into the circumstances and wanted to speak to anyone who was in the area of the Calling Out tent and the Big Wheel around the time of the girl’s death.

A spokesperson said: “Officers are particularly keen to speak with a group of women who alerted first responders to the girl after becoming concerned for her welfare.”

They said the girl’s family had been informed and were being supported by specialist officers.
